SAILPAST PROTOCOL

13:30

  • Commodore anchored South of Meyers Pier near Q54 depending on wind direction

  • Sailboats Marshal on the South Shore East of Cow Island

  • Power Boats Marshal on the North Shore near the hospital

  • All Vessels to Monitor Channel VHF 71

14:00

  • Review of the Fleet starts

  • Fleet Captain of Sail to lead the sailing fleet

  • Sailboats to pass Commodore’s Yacht in single file on Starboard tack.

  • Sailing vessels salute by luffing the jib

  • If no wind, sailboats are to motor

14:30

  • Wayne Peterson at the helm of Wally has agreed to lead the power fleet

  • Salute consists of "dipping" the Canadian flag (holding it so not to flutter), with the Skipper and crew facing starboard with hats removed.

  • Protocol dictates that until the Sailpast is completed, only the flagship may be dressed (strung with flags). However, after the Sailpast, all yachts are encouraged to dress ship. So get out your flags !

  • After the review of the fleet, enjoy the day on the water or visit Sandy cove for a swim.

  • You are encouraged to dress sailing casual in blue and white.
