The summer sailing camp introduces young sailors to the fun of sailing and provides instruction to achieve certification at the skill levels prescribed by the Canadian Yachting Association (CYA).

(for details of the CYA Learn To Sail Standards we apply in these courses, see HERE)

White Sail Levels 1, 2, 3

With an emphasis on safety and having fun, sailors learn basic boat handling & sailing skills, safety on the water, knot tying and basic terminology and rigging. Sailors should be ten years or older and must be competent in and around the water.

Bronze Levels 4 & 5

After completing White Sail 3, the Bronze program covers more advanced sailing techniques including sail trim, boat tuning, spinnaker and trapeze skills as well as more advanced principles of boat and sail design.

The Camp is led by our team of experienced Instructors that are trained and certified by the CYA. The emphasis is on safety, learning and having fun. Four 2 week session are held in July and August.

Adult Learn-to Sail Program (May and June)
(To avoid disappointment, register early!)

This program is designed for adults, with little or no prior sailing experience, who wish to gain a basic understanding and experience the pleasures of sailing.

In addition to the first two evenings of classroom instructions on the basics of sailing, safety and boat handling, participants will sail with experienced Yacht Club skippers on a variety of cruising and racing yachts, 24 to 34 feet. This also gives you the opportunity to discover what type of yacht may be right for you!

The program is held on Monday evenings in May and June with in-class instruction and on-the-water sailing sessions. The informal atmosphere provides an ideal format to learn about sailing, sail on a variety of different boats and meet new people. Each sailing session is followed by a barbeque with club members.

Participants may enrol in the optional (+$) additional instructions to obtain White and Bronze level CYA (Canadian Yachting Association) certification and would make appropriate use of the Club's fleet of dinghy sailboats.

Performance Training & Race Program

Youths and Adults are encouraged to participate in a full schedule of Club race activities and may continue to progress their skills to the CYA Silver and Gold Performance levels.

The Club hosts weekday and weekend dinghy and keel boat race series.

Participants and Yacht Club members may make use of the Club’s fleet of Albacore and Laser 2 sailing dinghies on Monday evenings or may crew on member keel boats. As well sailors may participate in a number of Club organized at-home and away regattas.

A Youth program is held as part of the Sailing Camp in July and August and our team of experienced instructors provides CYA Silver and Gold level instruction that is geared to both performance sailing and competitive race techniques.
